Hand Tree
This Hand Tree hung above my grandparents' mantle for many years and now that they have both passed away, it has been returned to me.
My favorite thing about art is the ability for viewers to project their own meaning onto what they are looking at. The hand tree could be ominous or hopeful, depending on the lighting. I spent the majority of the time making it looking at it in the horizontal position, imagining a cavernous maze, whose shape is not clear up close but only far away.
Shown at The Fishbowl Gallery "Just Keep Swimming" show, April 2024.
